The Orchard Files

Updated: Mar 13

An Heirloom Treasury of Your Orchard Growing Knowledge

Book cover on a bed of cherries

I created The Orchard Files to make it easy and enjoyable for you to organize and preserve all the valuable knowledge you’ve gathered about your fruit and nut trees, as well as your shrubs and vines. Everything you’ve learned through careful research and hands-on experience is worth saving!

The files are designed and beautifully illustrated to allow you to organize by type of tree or shrub--one section for stone fruits, another for citrus, another for berries etc. There is space at the beginning of each section for general notes, and some sections have space to write in the less common types of fruit or nut trees in that category. The index in the back allows you to quickly find the page for the plants you want to write about.

Sections Include:

  • Apple, Pear & Quince

  • Stone Fruits

  • Citrus

  • Berries

  • Nuts

  • Tropicals

  • Native and Wild plants

  • Vines

  • Caffeine Plants

By filling out the worksheets for each of your food-producing trees and shrubs, you’ll be creating a personalized treasure trove of information that will serve you for years to come. Not only will this resource help you cultivate a thriving orchard, but it can also become a cherished family heirloom—passed down to future generations of gardeners. Or, if you ever pass your land on to new owners, it can be a wonderful gift, allowing them to continue nurturing the trees and plants you’ve lovingly cared for.

Notes on How To Use:

I suggest using pencil or erasable gel pens to write in your information. Mistakes happen, and you may discover over time that your opinion on a plant or pest control method changes.

Don't know your USDA plant hardiness zone? You can find it here.

Each page is carefully structured to give you ample space to record essential details such as common and Latin names, light and soil requirements, water needs, optimal harvest times, pest and disease challenges (along with effective solutions), and so much more.
